A group of local housing association staff went coast to coast at the weekend and raised over £1,800 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance from sponsorship.

Eight Magna employees plus friends and family took part in the gruelling cycle challenge which started in the West Somerset port of Watchet.

The Magna team were part of 600 riders in the challenging 57 mile route which took them through some beautiful villages and countryside before finishing in West Bay, the golden gateway to Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

Team member and head of communication for Magna, Catriona Fountain, said: ‘We’ve been overwhelmed with the amount raised in sponsorship and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported us.

‘Our particular thanks go to Dorset Vehicle Rentals who provided a minibus to get the team and the bikes up to Watchet.  Without them we’d have really struggled.’

Colette McKenney, income manager, said: ‘This is the second time I have taken part in the challenge and I’m really glad I did.  The money is going to a fantastic local cause and it is all the more relevant to us at Magna as it covers the area where we have properties.’
