More than 250 events will be taking place in the Borough this summer.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council are hoping home will be the place to be with the launch of their annual events programme.

The borough will host over 250 events throughout 2016 including community fetes, fairs, world and national sailing championships, live music and many other seasonal favourites.

The season has got off to a successful start in February with the popular Dickies Quad Weymouth Beach X and there is plenty of Easter fun planned with live music at Tea on the Quay and Weymouth's pirate event.

All the iconic summer events will be back including Weymouth Carnival, the Dorset Seafood Festival and the International Fireworks display.

Economic Brief Holder for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, Cllr Mike Byatt hopes these events will help restore community spirit in the local area: "The message we want to send out is that Weymouth and Portland is great place to live, to work and to visit.

"Hopefully we'll get people to visit and also show local residents what a positive place Weymouth and Portland is."

Councillor Jason Osbourne, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's Tourism and Culture Briefholder, wants the public to get involved: "I'd like to encourage residents to come and take full advantage of this impressive community-based events programme which continues to entertain and inspire as well as generate many social and economical and benefits across the borough."
