First Wessex are to run a new bus route this summer which will connect Weymouth to top attractions in the east of the county.

The new X55 Jurassic Coaster route will link Littlesea Holiday Haven, Weymouth and Osmington to Lulworth Cove, Wool and Bovington Tank Museum.

The services will run three times a day in both directions and will start on Saturday 28th May.

Customers wishing to visit Monkey World should use the Bovington Tank Museum stop.

Commenting on the new X55 service, Simon Newport, General Manager, First Wessex, said: "We have often received requests from customers to run a service to both Lulworth Cove and Tank Museum during the summer months.

"We now have a service which provides a direct link from Littlesea Holiday Park and parts of Weymouth to both locations which we hope both locals and visitors will use. It has been tailored to offer families the chance to spend the morning on the beach at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, and the afternoon at the Tank Museum - or they can do it the other way around."

Simon Newport added: "The service, which forms part of our Jurassic Coaster routes, also provides another valuable link in the Dorset public transport network."

Families wanting to use the new X55 service can buy a £17.50 Family Explorer ticket, which is valid for this day out and can be used by up to two adults and three children.
