A Dorchester coffee shop has been named as one of the coolest places for top notch speciality coffee in the South West.

Finca in Great Western Road, which roasts speciality grade coffee has made it into the latest addition of the South West and South Wales Independent Coffee Guide.

It's one of 150 coffee shops that have met strict criteria to be hand-picked for the guide.

Finca was noted for its Cold Brew, Nitro coffee and small batch roasting.

The guide is every coffee connoisseur's passport to the world of speciality coffee. Reviews of cool hangouts, complete with a funky fold-out map of where to find them, will delight those in search of a seriously good caffeine hit. While those passionate about the bean can get the lowdown on latest trends such as nitro and speciality pods.

As well as coffee shop and roastery reviews, the guide includes information features on the seasonality of your daily brew and the role that women play in coffee production across the world.

"We've seen lots of developments over the last year as bean seasonality has become more widely recognised, and new and exciting harvests from micro-lots have been sourced and roasted," said editor Jo Rees.

"So it's a great moment to be a coffee fan, and we've had fun travelling around, checking out what's going on and meeting lovely people like Don and Marti Iszatt, co-founders of Finca, who are passionate about the bean."

The first South West guide was launched two years ago and this bigger third edition, which now includes great coffee shops and roasteries in South Wales, was unveiled at a get-together of movers and shakers in Bristol on Friday October 14. Hosts Extract Coffee, with a little help from friends Beyond the Bean, created a carnival of coffee to launch the third guide in the series, where Bristol's Mokoko scooped the milky honours - and £250 cash prize - in the latte art throwdown.

The guide is available from Finca Dorchester and other coffee shops and roasteries featured in the guide. In addition, the books are on Amazon and at good bookshops such as Waterstones and from the Food Insider's Guide website at £7.99.
