Brian Cookson took over the company in 1990 and now having reached its 30th Anniversary it will become an “Employee Owned” business.

Kitchencraft, in Weymouth is giving its employees a share of the business.

Brian Cookson took over the company based in Cambridge Road on the Granby Industrial Estate in 1990.  Now having reached its 30th Anniversary the company will become an "Employee Owned" business.

The day to day operations will be handed over to the existing experienced management team who will own a proportion of the shares, whilst the remainder of the employees will own the majority of the shares which will be held in trust.

The business model will be a similar arrangement to John Lewis.

The new Managing Director will be Pauline Hicks and Brian will be taking a diminishing role with the eventual aim of retirement from the business.

Brian Cookson went on to say "Over the years kitchen styles have come in and out of fashion. During the 1980's a country kitchen with rafters in the ceiling was a very popular choice with clients of all ages but as Kitchencraft approached the Millennium year's new trends such as high gloss, dark wood, Shaker style kitchens and high tech appliances dominated the kitchen scene.

Throughout the 30 years Kitchencraft have kept close to their customers' needs and dreams.

Experience really does matter at Kitchencraft and I have been very proud to be a part of it for the past 30 years."
