More Donors Needed to Help People in Dorset

Nurse Injection

8:08am 8th July 2013

120 people are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in Dorset.

The NHS say in the last 4 years, 24 people here have died because they didn't get one in time.

They're now urging us to sign up as a donor, and to make sure our families know it's what we want.

This week is national transplant week and this year’s theme is Pass it On, stressing the importance of having a conversation about organ donation as week as joining he NHS Donor Register.

Research shows while 95% of families agree to donation if a loved one has discussed their wishes and is registered on the Organ Donor Register, this drops to only 46% when donation wishes aren't known.
