Special Artwork Goes Up at Dorset County Hospital

A series of paintings created by children from a special learning school have gone up on display at Dorset County Hospital.
The abstract artwork by students from the Compass School was inspired by the Olympic artist who painted hoardings at Weymouth Train Station.
The brightly coloured, splattered images line the hallway leading into the Hospital's Damers Restaurant.
15 year old Caroline Bentley says she jumped at the chance to get involved in the project: "Straight away I said I'd do it because the hospital does so much for people and saves so many lives".
Having her ship painting up in the hospital is extra special for Caroline too, because her Mum works there: "It means loads because my Mum will be reminded of me because she works here. Whenever she looks at it she'll be proud of me".
Compass is a short stay school for children in the Weymouth and Portland area which aims to provide the very best in education and support for children who for a variety of reasons, sometimes medical, find themselves out of mainstream education.
