First school's in Dorchester are to be united in a new partnership scheme.
The ground breaking vision is to combine all indpendent and state schools in the area, to give children the best possible education and emplyment opportunities.
It is supported by the former schools commissioner Elizabeth Sidwell who commented: "I am keen to see the development of acadamies which have the power to shape their own destiny for the benefit of their community and economy. This exciting scheme will create a new model bringing together all areas of society for the future benefit of its young people."
Dorchester hopes the plans will be in place by 2015, working closely with local employers and community groups. The hope is that it will unite the community of Dorchester whilst providing opportunities for young people.
Andrew Roberts-Wray, Headteacher of Sunninghill prep, a school involved in the scheme said: "The importance of young people in the modern world learning to work together, regardless of background or ability, cannot be over estimated. I'm very grateful to Liz Sidwell for giving her time to support us in this venture for Dorchester and for taking our vision to the rest of the country".
