TV Naturalist Launches Caterpillar Campaign

Nick Baker

2:23pm 29th July 2013

TV naturalist Nick Baker’s launched a drive to encourage Dorset children to care for caterpillars before watching them turn into butterflies.

The ‘Munching Caterpillars’ project, run by Butterfly Conservation, will see kids plant selected foods and follow on-line menus to help them progress.

The event was launched at Groves Nurseries in Bridport. Manager Becky Groves says they have a long standing relationship with the organisation, and were delighted at Nick’s natural enthusiasm for the cause.

Nick, who addressed children and their parents at the launch, says he was first interested in caterpillars from the age of 10, and maintains that excitement at the life cycle to this day.

There’s more details on the scheme at www.munchingcaterpillars.org
