Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Land Rover Rolls on A35

A 48-year-old woman has suffered life-threatening head injuries when she was in a car that rolled as it was towing a caravan on the A35.

She was a passenger in the Land Rover Discovery driven by a 52-year-old man who suffered minor injuries and an 11-year-old boy, also in the car, was unhurt.

It happened just after 1pm on Saturday near the village of Askerwell.

The woman from the Poole area was air lifted to Southampton Hospital, the man also from the Poole area was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.

The vehicle rolled several times as the driver lost control.

The crash caused motorists major delays on on the A35 between shipton Gorge and Monkey's Jump for many hours on Saturday evening.

Dorset police are looking for witnesses.
