Dorchester Student's Plea

"We have so much talent AND I want people to share it" ... The words of a passionate young student from Dorchester.

Hettie Burn, who's studying at Oxford, wants to better connect local communities through a series of workshops called "Try This".

"There are so many highly skilled and amazing people in Dorchester, but not everyone is that well connected. I thought we could make that a little bit better."

Hettie has organised 36 sessions that run over 6 days from next Monday (16th September) on loads of things, from the weird and wonderful to the serious and creative AND it's all free of charge!

For example, there are workshops where you can find out more about creative writing and tax returns, alternatively for the more creative mind you can learn more about building a lantern and chutney making.

Each session is taught by local people who're passing on their skills; "Try This is all about celebrating people teaching other people what they know and what they can do."

"It invites you to open your mind a bit, explore something you've always wanted to learn or something you've never even heard of before."
