Dorset Paralympic Gold medalist Helena Lucas tackles able bodied sailors this week in the International 2.4 metre Open World championships being held off Poole.

Dorset Paralympic Gold medalist Helena Lucas tackles able bodied sailors this week in the International 2.4 metre Open World championships being held off Poole.

The boats' design means Helena, who recently competed in the Disabled World sailing championships in Ireland, will race alongside able bodied 2.4 metre world champion Peter Andersson from Sweden, and fellow paralympic competitor Megan Pascoe, who finished 3rd in the 'Open World's' last year.

Around 80 competitors from as far afield as Australia, USA and Scandinavia are taking part.

Other Dorset based sailors are taking part in the event including Mark Taylor from Milborne St Andrew.

Racing takes place from today(10th) till Friday(13th).
