Police Call Time On Boozed Up Trouble Makers

7:39am 19th September 2013

The Police are stepping up efforts to reduce alcohol related crime and anti-social behaviour in Dorset.

They've joined a national campaign that aims to highlight how getting too drunk can put you at risk of harm or potentially a criminal record.

More officers are going to be out and about this weekend offering revellers help and safety advice.

Nationally 50% of all crime is alcohol related.

Sergeant Richard Niemier from Dorset Police says they're not here to ruin the party;

"We want to get the message out to individuals that they are responsible for their own behaviour. Not only can excessive alcohol lead to criminal behaviour but you make yourself vulnerable to harm  or injury too."

The "In Focus" campaign lasts 5 days and runs over the weekend (18th-22nd September).
