UPDATE: Armed Robbery At Bookies: Two Men Arrested

Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery on Coral Bookmakers' Dorchester Road branch in Weymouth.

A 24 year old man of no fixed abodde and a 25 year old man from Weymouth are currently in police custody.

The incident happened at about 8pm on Saturday, when staff were threatened by two people wielding a hammer and a baseball bat. £ 815 was taken. Staff and customers were shaken but there were injuries.

Detective Inspector Stuart Dipple of Dorset police told Wessex FM they need to recover the weapons and have appealed to anyone who may have seen the items, or the men either before they entered the bookies, or afterwards.

The pair were wearing dark clothing as they ran off in the direction of Alexandra Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the 101 number or in confidence through Crimestoppers.
