Charity Weldmar Hospice has been bowled over after a local sports club presented them with a cheque of nearly 2 thousand pounds.
Cerne Abbas Mat Bowls Club raised the funds from a crossword event, quiz night and charity weekend.
The full amount raised was £1,800.
Eugene Balbinski, who organised the crossword, said "This donation is being made in memory of our Club Chairman, David Stevens and of Valerie Price. Valerie's husband, Dave Price, acted as the Quizmaster at our Charity Quiz Night and he is a member of Wool SMB Club and a good friend".
Mark Howlett, Community Fundraiser for Weldmar Hospicecare, said "It was amazing to meet the Cerne Abbas SMBC and to thank them in person for their generous donation. Their donation will allow us to continue to support patients and their families across Dorset and is gratefully received. The club has a lovely feel and they even let me have a quick throw. Fortunately I did not embarrass myself too much!".
