Dorset Men Offered Mid Life Crisis Advice

7:30am 27th September 2013

Men in Dorset, going through that awkward middle phase of sports cars and hip clothing, can now breathe a sigh of relief.

A Bridport author has written a special guide book to help you through those chaotic midlife crisis years.

A recent study claims the modern midlife crisis hits men aged 43, and can last up to 10 years.

Alan Heeks told Wessex FM his book called "Out of the Woods" is like a road map for me through those maturing years;

"The 50's 60's and 70's can be a really fantastic time for a lot of men, but it can also be a time when they get stuck and lost and they just need a roadmap out of the woods. What I've tried to do in this book is simply lay out how men at this point can make the best of their lives."

Alan says the reality of the midlife crisis is that it's a time when men start to realise that the skills they built up in their early adult life just don't cut it anymore. What I offer on each major topic is ways of looking at the issues and learning the skills you need.

Here's what Alan had to say on relationships and the single man;

"In relationships at this stage of life, men really need to learn how to express their feelings and hear someone else's feelings because a lot of women are wanting a really meaningful relationship and men have to meet what need."

Out of the Woods is available in a number of local Bridport shops or on Alan's website ..
