The Hat Festival, Melplash Show, the Farmers Market... Did you visit any of these held in Bridport over the Summer?
If so you could spot yourself in one of three videos local company Watershed PR has made to promote the town around the UK.
The Spirit of Bridport group initiated the project after the co-Chair, Ros Kayes, secured funding from the European Agricultural Fund for European Development.
Ros spoke to Wessex FM and said, 'People in the West Country have known for a long time that Bridport has that little extra something that makes it special, but how to define that appeal? These wonderful films give a real sense of the character and spirit of a town that is one of the most enviable places both to live and to visit. We wanted to inspire people and to support the economy of the town by promoting what's best about it.'
The films feature original music by West Dorset musicians, and local businesses involved include Samways West Bay shop, West Milton Cider, Bothen Hill Produce, Modbury Farm, Washingpool Farm, Leakers Bakery, Sladers Yard and Palmers Brewery. Other locations include The Riverside Restaurant at West Bay, the Venner Bar at the Bull Hotel and a host of artists' studios. There are landscape and seascape shots of West Bay, early morning views of Charmouth Beach and Golden Cap, countryside shots of the Marshwood Vale, flower-filled hay meadows as well as Bridport town itself.
'We've tried to capture vibrant slices of life which show the true spirit of Bridport,' Sara Hudston of Watershed PR explained, 'There was a very tight window for filming, from mid-July to mid-September. Fortunately the weather was great so we were able to capture the area at it's best. The aim of these videos is to provide high quality and distinctive content that firms, organisations and events in and around Bridport can use for free to help promote themselves.'
The videos wil go live on the Spirit of Bridport's YouTube channel tonight (28th September), with a launch event at The Bull Hotel in East Street from 5.30pm.
