"I'm Not Against Green Energy - Just This Windfarm"
7:47am 1st October 2013
Campaigners are having their final say over controversial plans for over 200 wind turbines in the sea off the Purbeck coast.
Developers behind the Navitus Bay Windfarm have been battling campaigners over the issue for months and say the project would power up to 790,000 homes.
They've hosted their final public consultation meeting in Swanage.
South Dorset's MP Richard Drax attended the meeting and told Wessex FM he's not against renewable energy, but he's against the wind farm project;
"We wouldn't have a problem with this wind farm if it wasn't off a world heritage coastline, and so close to the shore, which it is just a matter of miles off. The Crown of State has identified 9 areas of which this is one, there are 23,000 square kilometres in the other areas other areas."
The public consultation closes on October 10th.
