LISTEN: Dorset Pair Ready for Worlds Hottest Desert!
11:05am 7th October 2013
From Dorset to the Sahara a team of dedicated fundraisers are dusting off their walking boots to take on of the world's most intense landscapes, the Sahara Desert.
The crew, made up of men and women across all age groups, will be trekking 12 miles a day in temperatures hitting a 30 degrees.
The Sahara is the hottest desert in the world and third largest.
The team take off later this month (October) and are taking on the challenge to raise vital funds for Dorset's Weldmar Hospice.
Kate Jarvis, Manager of the Family Fun Factory on the Granby, and her auntie are 2 of the trekkers taking part. Kate told us she's nervous but ready to go;
"I've done nothing like this before in my life, so I'm a little bit scared if I'm honest but I'm also excited! I think the main challenges up against us are gonna be the heat and terrain, but I hope the group morale will keep us going. It's gonna be good."
Kate says she's close to hitting her fundraising target and thanks everyone who's kindly donated.
