War Medals Taken from Weymouth Home
1:32pm 7th October 2013
A number of prestigious military medals, earned for fighting in Northern Ireland and Afghanistan, have been stolen by thieves in Weymouth.
Raiders broke into a house on Verne Road in the Rodwell area of town and stole the items whilst the owner was away on holiday last month (15th - 26th September).
A mountain bike, laptop and sat-nav were also stolen.
Dorset Police is trying to track down those responsible and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Constable Andy Dickinson, of Weymouth police, said:
"These medals were given to the victim for good service in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals and long service awards.
"These medals are irreplaceable and I urge anyone who may have witnessed this burglary, has information about those responsible or saw any suspicious behaviour prior to the incident to contact police in confidence.
"I am also keen to hear from anyone who may be offered the stolen items for sale in unusual circumstances."
