Weymouth Retirement Housing Scoops Prize

A private retirement development in Weymouth's won a national award.

Hardys Court on Dorchester Road won silver at the Elderly Accommodation Counsel Housing Awards in Birmingham.

The ceremony recognises the best retirement housing across the UK and was hosted by Edwina Currie.

Madge Matthews, a resident from Hardys Court, said: "What a wonderful occasion and award, now everyone can see how enjoyable it is to live at Hardys Court!"

Madge, who was accompanied by her House Manager Jennifer Debenham at the awards ceremony, added: "I don't think anyone expected to even be shortlisted for an award. It's a lovely achievement for everyone here."

Carol Crowe, Head of Peverel Retirement, said: "We had a brilliant day at the awards and the icing on the cake was seeing Hardys Court win silver! This is a great achievement for the residents and Jennifer. Many congratulations."
