The story of the Tolpuddle Martyrs is being brought to life and straight to your mobile phone.

The South West TUC has won a grant of £38,700  to create an audio visual trial for visitors to follow around the historic village.

You'll be able to stand by the famous Martyrs tree and instead of reading a plaque - watch actors on your phone or tablet react the moment the 6 farm workers decided to form the first ever trade union.

The grant for the project has come from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Nigel Costley, Regional Secretary of the South West TUC, said: "This is terrific news. We're thrilled that, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, a new generation has the chance to learn of the inspiring story of the Tolpuddle Martyrs' - six men who sacrificed their freedom to remain strong to their principles.
