Dorset Village Turbine Plans on Display for First Time
8:14am 22nd October 2013
It's an issue that usually divides the community.
Wind turbines - love them or hate them? Either way you can see plans today to put 7 turbines up near Charminster and Charlton Down.
They're on show at the Herrison Hall in Charlton Down from 9am until 1pm and then at St Mary's First School in Charminster from 4pm until 8pm tonight.
Broadview Energy Limited are the company behind the proposal.
They are proposing to donate a percentage of money raised from the farm into a community fund which, they say, could amount to in excess of £1.7 million over the project's 25 year life if there are seven turbines installed.
Programme Manager, Tom Cosgrove told Wessex FM that the money would "hopefully be distributed and spent by the community on projects that are important to them."
"We're at a very early stage at the moment, so it's impossible to say what the final proposal might look like if it does go ahead. At this stage we're inviting residents along today ( 22nd October) to come and meet with us so that we can show them in more detail what we might be proposing and how the plans could look if they go ahead."
