A campaign to warn teenagers about domestic abuse has been launched in Dorset.

It's hoped adverts on buses, posters and awareness events will show youngsters what a violent or controlling relationship is like, in case they find themselves in one.

A recent study by the NSPCC found that a quarter of girls aged 13 to 17 had been a victim of domestic violence.

Cllr Ray Nottage, Chair of the Dorset Community Safety Partnership said;

"Tackling domestic abuse in all its forms is a priority for the Dorset Community Safety Partnership and its partners. The national definition of domestic abuse changed earlier this year to include those aged 16 and over and we feel it is timely to focus locally on how young people can be affected in their own intimate relationships"

"Our message to young people who find themselves in abusive relationships is that you're not alone, it's not your fault and help is available. The good news is that help is available both for young people and those who care for and about them. "
