Dog Owners Asked For Their Favourite "Walkies"?

Published at 8:30am 9th January 2014.

If you and your dog have a favourite place to go for "walkies" in Dorset than a regional competition wants to hear from you.

Nominations for the Best Dog Walk along the South West Coast Path are open for a second year.

Owners are encouraged to send in their favourite routes with recommended dog friendly pubs and cafes on the way where you can grab a snack to fuel your boots.

With hundreds of places to choose from the Kennels Club, who back the competition, say it's not going to be easy.

Stephen, a columnist for Your Dog Magazine said; "I've always had a soft spot for the South West and its glorious coastline - it's great for dogs with miles of golden sands to play around on as well as woodland paths and green pasture."

Managing Director James Morris says, "We have found that more people than ever are taking their dogs away on holiday within the UK and consider their pets as part of the family unit."

Last year's winning dog walk was awarded Heddon's Mouth in Somerset.

The winning voter will win a holiday at one of the Holiday Cottages 800 dog friendly cottages in the region worth £400.

The closing date for the competition is February 28th (2014). There's loads more information and details of how to vote online at www.southwestcoastpath.com/dogs
