(Updated 11:20am 17th January 2014)

An 18-year-old man in Weymouth's been punched in the face while waiting for a bus.

Police say the unprovoked attack happened at the bus stop outside The Rock and Fudge Shop on the Esplanade at 10.55pm on Wednesday 8th January.

It's thought the offender, who's described as 5 feet six inches tall and of chubby build, had already assaulted a man on a bicycle.

Police Constable Jamie Heath, of Weymouth police, said: "It would appear that this man was taking out his frustration and anger on two innocent members of the public, which has resulted in visible injuries and a degree of shock."

The offender was wearing a grey top.

PC Heath continued: "A number of people were at the bus station and would have witnessed what happened. I urge them and anyone with information to call Dorset Police in confidence as soon as possible.

"I am also interested to hear from the man who was assaulted on the pushbike."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 09:256. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
