Police Issue Warning Over Catalytic Converter Thefts

Dorset Police Car

9:19am 30th January 2014

A catalytic converter's been stolen from a van in Dorchester, the second theft of a catylitic converter from a vehicle in the area this month.

In the latest incident a vehicle was targetted in Icen Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning (Tuesday 28th January).

Dorchester Police Inspector Steve Marsh says the culprits must have taken some time and used a mechanic's tools in a deliberately planned operation because wires and mounts were cut from underneath the vehicle.

Inspector Marsh says there is some intelligence that this is a growing crime cross the county.

He's asking anyone who is offered a catalytic converter or who hears of one being sold, to contact Dorset Police or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
