The 10 year battle for Curtis Fields in Weymouth is finally over.

The Supreme Court has turned down a bid to make the land a town green.

Campaigners will have to pay Betterment Properties £15,000 in costs.

The case has cost Betterment £1 million.

In a statement to Wessex FM, Betterment Properties Chairman Mervyn Stewkesbury said to campaigners: " Please do not look upon it that you have lost your Village Green, think to yourselves you have had use of the land for more than 10 years when you should not have done."

"We have no wish to deprive anyone of the use of this land and provided we can safeguard ourselves (to prevent the same happening again) we will allow everyone to continue to enjoy the same use as they have in the past until we require the land for other purposes."
