More Pedal Power at Dorset Police thanks to local Company

Bike Ride Shadow on road

7:45am 19th February 2014

Dorchester police officers are getting on their bikes.

Thanks to Magna Housing's community initiative fund they've secured two new mountain bikes to allow them to be more mobile.

Inspector Steve Marsh, of Dorchester Police told Wessex FM:

"We have a good working relationship with Magna Housing Group. They are a key partner in our work to keep the Dorchester area and it's residents safe.'

The new wheels mean officers can patrol the Dorchester area effectively, while still being approachable.

The bikes follow Magna's donation to the local force for three community police vans, and two bikes to the Sherborne patch in September 2013.

John Coombe, who helps allocate money from the Magna Community Fund, said:

'We wanted to support this application as it will help provide safer communities, by increasing accessibility and visibility.'

The bikes were supplied by Dorchester's Poundbury Cyclesport, an independent local bike shop.
