People Pictured on Cliff Edge at West Bay Sparks Fresh Warning

West Bay - Martin Cox

7:30am 20th February 2014

Wessex FM's received this picture of people putting their lives at risk on a cliff top at West Bay.

Listener Martin Cox took the photo of two people sitting precariously near the cliff edge.

On Monday we told you that more cliff falls ARE expected - after major landslips at West Bay and Portland Port over the weekend.

We're being urged to take extreme care around cliff tops and on the beaches below.

Richard Edmonds from Dorset Jurassic Coast Team told us there are real dangers around the cliff edges and beneath them;

"What’s happened particularly between West bay and Burton Bradstock is that their vertical cliffs and the sea has absolutely hammered the base of those, leading to a high risk of rock falls happening there. Those cliffs can fail at any time we saw it happen in 2012. There is always a risk under the cliff of a rock fall coming down which is why we're urging people to stay away."
