Dorset Ideas Could Win EU Funding
8:11am 6th March 2014
A local action group wants to know what you think will improve the quality of life and prosperity of people living in Dorset.
They're collecting ideas from West Dorset, Purbeck and Portland.
The aim is to then prioritise them for EU funding.
They want to know what factors residents and entrepreneurs think will improve economic growth in rural communities and businesses.
The Chalk & Cheese Local Action Group has spent the past 7 years distributing just over £2m to projects across West Dorset, Purbeck and Portland and is now looking again at how and where this community group makes decisions and the types of projects it funds. In 2010 the Portland Sculpture and Quarry Trust were awarded £112,000 to create new workshop and exhibition spaces. This investment has helped local art and craft-based businesses to develop. It has also provided learning space for visiting students, artists and leisure courses, benefiting tourism businesses on the island. Should the Local Action Group fund more projects of this type from 2015?
A number of events are planned over the next week - see below - and anyone wanting to attend should contact Sarah Harbige on 01305 228699 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
