Community Police Hubs Considered For Bridport and Dorchester

11:56am 7th March 2014

Community hubs could be created in Bridport and in Dorchester to provide us with access to the Police if station front desks are to close.

In Bridport a police officer could be put in place at the Council offices with access to the police computer systems.
The same could happen in Dorchester at the Library.

Police and Crime Commission Martyn Underhill is looking at how much that would cost.

Ros Kayes the Lib Dems Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for West Dorset  said: " It's very good news for our more rural communities that the PCC recognises that one size doesn't fit all and he clearly understands the concern in the more rural parts of Dorset that access to the Police and the service that is provided at front desks is a real worry to people."

She has recently had talks with Mr Underhill and added: " While the cost cutting originally proposed will still need to be
addressed, I came away from our discussions with a strong sense that a way forward will be found that addresses campaigners' concerns."
