West Dorset Villagers Pull Together To Buy Their Local Pub

Dorset villagers vying to save their troubled local pub from changing hands again have revealed plans for affordable housing on the site.
Residents in Marshwood, near Bridport, are in the process of putting together a takeover bid for the Bottle Inn to save it from potential closure in the future.
They have 5 months to club together around £450,000 to complete the takeover after the Bottle was made an Asses of Community Value by the Council.
The friends group, planning the takeover, are talking with a local housing group about selling them land to build on. Landlord of the Bottle Inn Nigel told us they've identified a field that can be used as a through road for builders which they can also build on.
With the clock ticking Nigel says they've created a sub-committee who'll go about clubbing the money together;
"They will come forward for ideas of raising the funds; we're looking at outside funding as well. There are a lot of charities out there who fund these sorts of things as well like the National Lottery for instance, they help save old rural buildings, there are a lot of things we're looking at at the moment."
