(Updated 9:24am 15th March 2014)
Campaigners will be in Bucky Doo Square this morning to send a clear message to the bus company and the Council that the route shouldn't be axed.
Hundreds of names have been collected on the petition in just a month and a half.
The County Council will stop funding the service in June.
According to research carried out by campaigners, the service is mostly used by students, workers and pensioners.
Many students say they couldn't afford to travel to Yeovil College without it.
Campaigners hope that Yeovil College will continue to subsidise the route and extra funding can somehow be found.
Ros Kayes , County Councillor for Bridport and Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman for West Dorset, who has been supporting the campaigners said,
"'This research shows why the bus is so needed and highlights the human impact on jobs, college places and costs for pensioners who use this service. I will be speaking at the Environment Overview committee to request that they ask the Cabinet to give further consideration to this strategically significant bus service .'
The petition will be considered by the Overview Environment Committee on 27 March.
