£ 2M Tourism Campaign Misses Out Weymouth And Portland

9:23am 27th March 2014

A £2 million national campaign to advertise flood hit communities has failed to reach Weymouth and Portland.

The Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership is working closely with Visit England, to encourage people to visit our county for a holiday this Spring and Summer.

Their "Spot on England" campaign aims to help tourism businesses affected by the recent bad weather.

Wareham and Bridport are in it, but Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester don't feature.

West Dorset District Council Leader Robert Gould told us they're aware some parts of the county that suffered in the floods don't get a mention, but they're doing what they can to ensure all local businesses are supported;

"I know there has been some concern about that but we're very much all working together, all the local authorities in Dorset to make sure that we are promoting all the things that we have to offer which is a very wide range of things, from Weymouth all along the coast."

"Dorset has so much to offer with beautiful beaches, a wide range of attractions, stunning countryside and a world-famous Jurassic coastline. We are looking forward to welcoming many more visitors old and new to the area to support our tourism industry on the back of this campaign."
