Major Film Festival Opens In Bridport

filming camera and reels

2:07pm 2nd April 2014

Major stars of best-selling books and films are coming to Bridport over the next few days.

They're in Dorset for, From Page To Screen, the UK's only film festival dedicated to the adaptation of books into films.

Jon Ronson is guest curator.  The 2009 film - The Men who stare At Goats staring George Clooney was taken from a book he wrote. Together with screenwriter Peter Straughon, Jon has also penned the soon-to-be-released Frank.  Loosely autobiographical (in his younger days Jon played keyboards in the Frank Sidebottom band) Frank is a hotly anticipated comedy starring Michael Fassbendeer, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Domhall Gleeson.

Bridport Arts Centre and the Electric Palace will be showing a wide range of films.  Most screenings will also feature talks by the authors or film makers.

Author Nick Hornby will be speaking on Friday ahead of the screening of his film, "A Long Way Down".
