Magpies In Must Win Game
9:01am 5th April 2014
All three of our local football teams are in action this afternoon; one is fighting for their lives while the other two are looking to finish on a high.
Struggling Dorchester Town have an uphill battle against Hayes and Yeading United who've recently spent money on players to bolster their squad in an attempt to escape the drop.
The Magpies showed flashes of inspiration and hope in January and February, resting on the shoulders of loan players who gave the team a much needed spark, propelling them to a string of good results.
The past few weeks have been a very different story and they've struggled going 9 games without a win.
Speaking to Wessex FM ahead of today's away game manager Phil Simkin said his side is depleted with a number of injuries, but they won't give-up and will fight to the last minute to avoid relegation;
"We keep going until the last ball is kicked. I can't fault the lads for effort, never ever fault them for effort. They'd be the first to say at times inexperience has caught them out especially some of the younger ones. It's been a very hard season for everyone concerned. I'm proud of their efforts and we'll keep going until the end."
Elsewhere, Weymouth can make it six games unbeaten with a result away to Hungerford Town.
Jason Matthews' Terras have been on fine form at the business end of the season with 12 points from their last 5 games and scoring 10 goals in the process.
However, the Terras are carrying some injuries into the match as the Gaffer told us ahead of the game;
"We have got a couple of injuries but I am happy with the squad we've got at the moment. It gives a couple of others the chance to show what they can do and we had a good training session on Thursday. I look forward to playing one of the form sides in the league."
And, coming off the back of a solid midweek win Bridport take on Cadbury Heath.
The Bees have been up and down in 2014 but have put together a good run with just one loss their last 5 games.
