Bridport Museum Displays Monster Creation
8:36am 8th April 2014
There's been a rather unusual creature turn up at Bridport Museum.
A Plesiosauria made out of Lego!
The Plesiosauria is a reptile that was alive around 205 million years ago, common in the Jurassic period, but it is said to have disappeared around 66 Million years ago.
Bridport Museum have received the model from a company called Bright Bricks, and Museum Curator Emily Hicks says the Lego Plesiosauria is part of a bigger Jurassic Coast project:
"Dorset County Museum have a Megalosaurus and Lyme Regis Museum have a Ichthyosaur. The project has several elements, one of which is a very exciting online fossil database and there will be more to come about that in the following months, we are trying to keep it all under wraps for a while, but you can come down to the Museum and meet the Plesiosauria."
Emily describes the model: "It's made from Lego, it's about 2 metres long, it's hanging from the ceiling in the Museum... and it's a large model of a Plesiosauria, which is an underwater Jurassic reptile. We have a partial skeleton hanging in our Museum so we have a full one now made out of Lego!"
