Bridport Urged To Fight Back Against Scammers
3:58pm 30th April 2014
People in Bridport have the chance to fight back against scammers.
The town's Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards are launching an awareness campaign that aims to reduce the number of people being conned.
Thousands of pounds are lost due to scams in Dorset every year.
Project officer at Bridport's Citizen's Advice Bureau Shaun Powell says very few of us actually report them:
"Unfortunately too many people suffer in silence with just 5% of scams reported. This could be due to many people embarrassed or ashamed to report when they have been scammed. When people get conned out of money they don't want to be shouting out about it."
Scam month launches tomorrow (1 May) and you can visit Bridport's Citizens Advice Bureau on South Street for more information.
