Legendary War Zone Reporter Speaking In Bridport

Kate Adie

8:31am 6th May 2014

Kate Adie's speaking in Bridport tonight (7.30pm).

The former war correspondent will be talking about her new book in which the role of women and in particular those in Bridport during the First World War is highlighted.

In her book 'Fighting on the Home Front:The Legacy of Women in World War One', she recounts Bridport netting companies receiving orders for vast amounts of hay and pea nets for the war effort, most of which were made by women outworkers in their own homes.

The book's published later this month.

Proceeds from the event at the Town Hall will go towards Bridport Museum's development plans.
