Funding for Dorset Businesses to Make Improvements for Staff

Money

Local businesses can now apply for a £3,000 grant to help get their staff walking, cycling or using public transport to get to work.

The money's available for firms in Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester from the County Council.

You can use it for things like putting in changing rooms and showers - or web conferencing equipment to cut down on employees having to travel to meetings.

This investment in businesses has been made possible through the council's £2.4M Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) and £12M Three Towns Travel grant from the Department for Transport.

A number of applications have been received and around £7000 has already been awarded across those businesses.

Dorset County Council's Cabinet member for environment and the economy Peter Finney said:

"We are delighted to be able to help local businesses improve their facilities and help their staff travel more sustainably."

"I'd encourage any business that has not yet looked into the scheme to apply and see how a grant could benefit them."

Businesses wishing to take advantage of these matched funded grants need to apply online by 20 June 2014. For more information and to submit an application click here.
