Sea Life Superstars Show Support For World Cup
12:02pm 12th June 2014
Resident creatures at Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park have pledged their allegiance to their native or adopted countries during the forthcoming World Cup, which could lead to resulting in some very interesting encounters over the next four weeks!
Visitors will be able to identify which creature is supporting which team by the sticker displayed on their tank. They can then head to Adventurer’s Grill, give a small donation to the Sea Life Marine Conservation Trust charity and bet which animal they think will win in exchange for a raffle ticket.
32 raffle tickets will then be drawn on 14th July from the winner’s pile, with 32 people winning a VIP animal feeding experience at the Park.
“A large number of creatures wanted to support England in the World Cup, but the common harbour seals were the obvious choice, and will be flying the flag right the way through to victory”, said Marketing Coordinator Laura Culshaw. The first creature clash will be Piranha’s vs Moray Eels in a top trumps style social media campaign on the Park’s Facebook page.
Other top rivals include Lucia the octopus for Spain, Ali, Josie, Sharky and Gumbo the green sea turtles for USA, Cedar and his 10 team mates the Humboldt penguin colony for Chile and Johnny the otter and his sons representing Argentina.
“Although the creatures will be supporting their home countries, they’ll be kept firmly away from their rival teams in case they take their competition as far as a bite or nibble!”
The Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park Facebook Page will feature all of the animals representing their country of nationality during the matches taking place over the next month.
