Samaritans Train Runs Into Swanage
8:30am 14th June 2014
400 passengers will be making an exclusive journey today from Sheffield to Swanage on board a high speed train.
They all have one thing in common, they're involved with the Samaritans.
Train staff will also be donating their days wages to the charity who provide a vital telephone support service.
East Midlands Trains Head of Operations Strategy Darren Ward said:
"What we do is a fraction of what Samaritans achieve, and we consider it a perk of the job to be involved with an organization that does such wonderful work."
Samaritans CEO Catherine Johnstone said:
"We are hugely grateful to East Midlands Trains, Network Rail and everyone who has taken so much trouble to make this event a success. The money raised will help Samaritans to continue to be there for anyone struggling to cope."
