Dog Rescued From Slurry Pit

Dorset Fire And Rescue Engine

9:35am 30th June 2014

A much loved pet dog has been rescued from a slurry pit at a farm near East Bexington.

15-year-old golden retriever Treacle's tail was caught in brambles.

She was swimming to keep from drowning but becoming more and more tired.

Crews from Weymouth and a specialist animal rescue team from Poole managed to free Treacle and get her safely back to her owners.

Dorset Fire and Rescue say there have been similar incidents in the past where people have lost their lives trying to rescue their pets. They're urging anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to wait until trained rescue crews arrive.
