fire

Published at 6:50am 11th July 2014.

A farmer near Bridport has been helping firefighters save part of his property after 100 tonnes of hay caught alight during the early hours this morning (Friday 11th July).

He used a tractor to remove bales close to the blaze while fire crews battled the blaze on the Marshwood farm from around 5am.

Fire fighters remained on the scene dampening down to make sure the fire was completely out.

Dorset Fire and Rescue responded to the emergency just a few hours after members of the Fire Brigades Union walked out in the continued row over pay and pensions.
