West Dorset Business "Surprised" by Big Win

Published at 7:25am 11th July 2014.

A family-run business in Bridport and Beaminster have been voted top of the crops across the whole UK.

Groves Nurseries have won a prize for their customer service at the national Greatest Garden Centre Awards.

The judging was based on votes from the public plus a surprise visit from one of the judges, to give Groves Nurseries the top prize in the Greatest Garden Centre Team Awards.

Charlie Groves and Becky Stork, directors of the business, went up to a glittering awards ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. Their award was presented to them by garden design guru, Diamuid Gavin,

We spoke to Becky Stork who told us she was still in shock, "It really surprised us because we were up against some really big garden centres, big chain ones and big garden centres across the UK. We entered it because we know we have loyal customers, it proves to us that hopefully we're doing the right things!"

Becky revealed that the secret behind their success was a great working team, "Thank you to the fantastic staff at big Groves in Bridport and little Groves in Beaminster, all of this it wouldn't have happened without the staff because all the comments on the customer cards were how good the service is from the staff, and of course, thank you to our customers who voted for us."
