Dorset County hospital has opened its recently refurbished Day Surgery Unit.
The £280,000 development took over eight weeks to complete.
Such improvements will allow the hospital to take in a greater number of patients for day surgery.
Dr. Oliver Tweedie, Clinical Lead of the Day Surgery, told Wessex FM:
"At Dorset Country Hospital we really emphasise putting the patient first and day surgery is better for the patients.
The development will allow 30-40% more patients through the Day Surgery Wards which generally provides better satisfaction and care to the patients."
In addition to these patient friendly innovations, the refurbishments are expected to save the hospital approximately £300,000 a year, making Dorset County Hospital more cost efficient.
