Lyme Regis Works Nearing Completion

Lyme Regis

9:11am 19th August 2014

Works to protect homes, businesses and roads from the sea in Lyme Regis is almost completed.

It’s part of a £19.5 million scheme, which saw the new sea wall walkway opened this week. Landscaping and planting is then expected to be completed by Christmas.

The path will be closed again in October in order to install steps and a footpath linking to Charmouth Car Park.

Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said: "It is great news that the major stabilisation works in Lyme Regis is nearly complete, safeguarding many homes and businesses.

"The district council has worked hard with local representatives, the town council, the Environment Agency and county council to protect the town. I would like to thank residents for their continued patience and cooperation throughout."
