Weymouth Farm Project Given 30 Year Lease

Farm

6:48am 5th September 2014

The Groundwork Trust have been granted a 30 year lease to operate Tumbledown Farm in Southhill, Weymouth as a community food growing and education facility.

Groundwork South will develop the farm for the local community as well as creating opportunities for school children to learn about growing their own food and helping those with health issues through Eco Therapy.

The farm needs a lot of work and additional funding but they hope that people will see things taking shape within the next year.

The farm will also teach people how to grow and cook their own food and Groundwork hopes to start an innovation code qualification that will encourage people to take things further in the future for example working in or owning their own market garden.

Claire Salerno Business Development Manager for Groundwork South told Wessex FM; "We are very excited and we have a long way to go but we have a fantastic vision and we want the local community to get involved."
