Seafood Festival Raises £10K For Fishermen’s Mission

Dorset Seafood Festival Cheque 2014

12:07pm 23rd September 2014

Organisers, sponsors and key players celebrated the success of this year’s Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival this week by handing over a cheque for £10,000 to their Festival charity, The Fishermen’s Mission.

The event, which took place over the weekend of 12th and 13th July, was blessed with glorious weather and stallholders provided a mouth watering selection of tasty fish dishes for the many thousands of visitors.    This year was the seventh Seafood Festival and the fifth with Pommery Champagne’s support as main sponsor.

Roger Dalton, Chairman and Co-director of Dorset Seafood Festival Ltd said: “The Fishermen’s Mission is a charity dear to our hearts especially after such a difficult year with the winter storms.  We hope this money – raised through sponsorship and fund raising activities – can be used in a truly practical way to help local fishing communities”.

The Fishermen’s Mission generated thousands of pounds through sale of Cook Books, Raffle Tickets and Fridge Magnets, with help from the stall collection boxes, Passionate About Fish demos and face painters.

Plans for next year’s event have already started and provisional dates announced as 11th and 12th July.
